The Science Advising Intern will assist advisors in the College of Health Science and College of Natural Sciences with daily advising-related tasks. They will interact with students seeking assistance and determine how best to support their needs. This position will be up to 20 hours a week, located in the Geoscience 3rd floor lobby.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet students and visitors to the science advising lobby and assist them with check-in or appointment scheduling
  • Provide outreach to students in specific cohorts to provide important information and reminders from advising
  • Maintain up-to-date signage for upcoming events and information on advisors' doors and boards
  • Learn various processes related to advising to be able to share information with or direct students as needed
  • Promote a welcoming environment for all who spend time in the Geoscience lobby

Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort with making phone calls and sending emails.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office or the Google Drive suite of products.
  • Familiarity with advising (meets with advisor regularly).
  • Interest in learning more about higher education, academic advising, or the sciences.
  • Must be Junior or Senior standing in Fall 2024.
